JALANDHAR: The annual science exhibition was held at Eklavya School. Students from LKG to class XII participated in the exhibition.



Jalandhar: The annual science exhibition was held at Eklavya School. Students from LKG to class XII participated in the exhibition. Students displayed various projects and   working models at the exhibition. Dr KS Nagla (associate professor and head of department of instrumentation & control engineering department at NIT Jalandhar) and Dr Jyotish Malhotra (dean, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar) were the chief guests. JK Gupta, chairman, Seema Handa, director, Eklavya School, Arvinder Kaur, Principal, Eklavya and administrator Dimple Malhotra were also there to praise and boost the morale of students. All the exhibits were notable but solar cycle, floor cleaning machine, ultrasonic radar, sewage treatment plant, replantation machine, cracker gun, bubble machine, sprinkler system, robot car, elephant toothpaste, drip-irrigation system, solar system, earthquake proof desk, IR detection, laser detection-based border security system etc. were the highlights of this year’s exhibition. 

Youth festival

Jalandhar: Organised by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Lyallpur Khalsa College is hosting the inter-zonal segment of youth festival from November 16 to 19. Nearly 1,000 students from 35 colleges, who bagged first and second positions in the zonal segment, would participate in the inter-zonal contest. Principal GS Samra said the inter-zonal segment would be conducted as per the rules and regulations of GNDU. Prof. Jasreen Kaur, dean academics, Dr Tarsem Singh, convener, youth festival, Prof Arunjit Kaur, Dr Harjit Singh, Dr Suman Chopra and heads of different committees were present on the occasion.

Sanskriti kmv students shine

Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School taekwondo team, representing Jalandhar, participated in the 22nd state level taekwondo competition held in Ferozepur. School team players- Shivankar Pratap Singh, grade VII and Yug Dhall of grade VIII won gold, Shiva Arora of grade VIII won silver and Damandeep Singh of grade VI won bronze in the competition. The school bagged the overall third position in the competition. Rachna Monga, Principal, congratulated the winners and awarded them with trophy and medals. She appreciated the sports department for the marked achievement and raising the competitive spirit of school students. 

Annual Convocation

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya is organising the annual convocation on November 18. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi said Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, would be the chief guest. Chander Mohan, president, Arya Shiksha Mandal, will preside over the function. Rehearsal for the same will be on November 16. During the culmination, a cultural programme showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our country will also be presented.

Gurpurb celebrated

Jalandhar: The KCL Institute of Management and Technology (KCLIMT) and Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering jointly celebrated the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev on Friday. The programme started with the path of ‘sukhmani sahib’ and after that shabad kirtan was recited by Prof Rameshwer Singh of KCLIMT and his team. Balbir Kaur (president, governing council) addressed devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. Langar was distributed among devotees.

School head gets award

Nakodar: Cambridge International School, Nakodar, added a new milestone as Principal Sandhya Dewan was selected for ‘Excellence in School Education-CBSE’ award under the category of ‘Emerging leaders’. The event was organised by the Venus International Foundation and presented by Justice TN Vallinayagam, Lok Adalat, High Court of Chennai. 

Students win gold in karate

Jalandhar: Students of Innocent Hearts Schools have carved a niche in the district karate championship. Vibhor, Ratnesh, Aastha, Rushar, Rayan, Aadil, Gurtej, Ravtai, Richa, Rupali, Rizul, Gurjot and Divanshu, Tania and Sudhanshu won gold medals. Besides, the students won five silver and six bronze medals in the karate championship. As many as 150 students participated in the championship. School management  congratulated students, coach Harpreet, HoD sports Sanjeev Bhardwaj. 

Achievers’ Day celebrated

Jalandhar: Tagore’s International Smart School celebrated Achievers’ Day “Obeisance 2019”. Dr Kanishka, assistant operating manager, Indian Railways Traffic Service, Ferozepur Division, was the chief guest. Abhay Kumar Jain, chairman, Tagore Educational Society, presided over the event. Vinod Shashi Jain, dean and Ruchika Jain, principal, felicitated guests. The event commenced with ‘shabad gayan’ to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev. TNS
