Search op at rly station ahead of I-Day event
Jalandhar: The Commissionerate Police conducted a security check at railway station here this morning ahead of the state-level Independence Day celebrations. It was led by ADGP, Law and Order, PK Sinha.
Accompanying the ADGP during the operation were senior officers, including Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Gurpartap Singh Sahota, ADCP-1, Nirmal Singh, ACP-Central, and Damanbir Singh, ACP-North. A large contingent of police personnel, anti-sabotage team and dog squad were also deployed.
The operation aimed to enhance security measures ahead of the celebrations here at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, where CM Bhagwant Mann will be present as the chief guest. From passenger areas and shops to the items on the platforms, everything was thoroughly checked. The authorities questioned several persons as part of precautionary measures.
“The safety and security of the public remain our top priority,” said ADGP Sinha, emphasising the importance of the operation in preventing any potential threats during the Independence Day celebrations.
The Commissionerate Police also urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or unattended items by calling the 112 Helpline. — TNS
