A seminar-cum-public outreach programme was organised today in Phagwara on the life and teachings of Dr BR Ambedkar. The event was hosted by Jai Bhim United Voice of Punjab under the leadership of its founder, Dr Harjinder Singh Jakhu, at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan, Urban Estate.
The programme witnessed the participation of Jasvir Singh Garhi, chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, who attended as the chief guest. During the event, a public grievance session was conducted where members of the Scheduled Caste community presented issues related to social and administrative concerns.
Highlighting the teachings of Dr Ambedkar, Garhi urged people to engage with his writings to better understand and challenge societal inequalities. He specifically recommended reading works which critically examine historical and social constructs. The seminar concluded with a call for unity, social awareness and adherence to the principles of equality and justice as advocated by Dr Ambedkar.
