Guru Nanak Dev University College, Ladowali, organised a seminar on drugs. Vivek Joshi, a physically challenged youth of Australia-based NGO – Kick Drugs, was the main speaker on the occasion. He appealed to the students to stay away from drugs and engage in social work.
He cautioned students not to accept any intoxicant, in any form, from anyone. If one sees anyone indulge in drugs then they should alert teachers and family members. “It is important to identify drug abuse at an early stage as it becomes difficult to break free from a bad habit later on”, he added.
He also showed documentaries to the students explaining them the ill-effects of drugs on one’s family, health and society. Officer on Special Duty, GNDU College, Dr Kamlesh Singh Duggal said young boys and girls studying in schools and colleges are in the grip of drug addiction. Despite a number of de-addiction centres, the problem continued to grow. — OC
