Special food safety drive in Hoshiarpur
Objective was to verify the quality of milk and milk-based products available in market
A special inspection drive was carried out across the district by Food Safety Officer Ishan Bansal under the supervision of the District Health Officer Dr Jatinder Bhatia, to ensure the quality and safety of food items being supplied to consumers.
The primary objective of the campaign was to verify the quality of milk and milk-based products available in the market. During inspection, the team collected two samples for testing. One sample of milk was taken from a dairy farm, while another of used cooking oil was collected from a well-known food outlet, KFC.
Both samples were sent to an authorised food testing laboratory for detailed analysis to determine whether these meet the prescribed safety standards. Officials said strict action would be taken if any violation or adulteration is found in samples after the test reports were received.
Dr Bhatia and Bansal issued strict instructions to all food business operators (FBOs) to maintain high standards of hygiene at their establishments and comply with provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act. They also appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding the quality of food products to the Health Department or the food safety authorities. This, they said, would help ensure timely action and safeguard public health.
