The North-Zone Inter-University Basketball Championship, organised from January 16 at the Government Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar, entered Day 4 on Monday. International basketball player and Arjuna awardee Sajjan Singh Cheema was the special guest at the event, and was welcomed by Principal Ranbir Singh with a sapling.
In the first match of the day, Lovely Professional University beat Punjabi University, Patiala (56-41). Panjab University, Chandigarh, won over Delhi University (64-32); while Chandigarh University, Mohali, won over Guru Nanak Dev University (67-33).
Host Punjab Sports University, Patiala, defeated Kurukshetra University by a margin of 56-28 points.
Punjab Sports University, Panjab University, Chandigarh University and Lovely Professional University have qualified for the all-India inter-university tournament.
The championship featured more than 40 teams from across the north zone, and has now entered league sessions.
