Summer science camp for rural students at LPU

PHAGWARA: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been organising a one-month-long summer science camp for those students, who are residing in rural areas on its campus free of cost.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been organising a one-month-long summer science camp for those students, who are residing in rural areas on its campus free of cost.

As many as 400 students of Class IX to XII from 30 villages of the state have come to attend the camp. The aim behind organising the camp is to teach the basic concepts of science to the students and to create awareness about recent global advances in the field of science and technology related areas.

Faculty members and postgraduate volunteer students from LPU School of Chemical Engineering and Physical Sciences are guiding the participants through innovative instructive tools. The participants shall also get certificates after completion of the camp.

Some of the students from Swami Sant Dass Public School (Phagwara) said : “We are getting well-versed in our subjects. In the most systematic way, the faculty explain us in detail about the topics covered.”

Head, LPU School of Chemical Engineering and Physical Sciences and School of Research Degree Programmes, Prof Dr Ramesh Thakur said: “The teachers are touching the important topics from diverse fields of science, physics, biology, chemistry and so on.”

LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal encouraged the faculty members and students.
