The ‘Government Vocational School Attendant Union’ held a state-level convention at the Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Hall in support of their demands. The convention was held under the patronage of state president, Sukhwinder Singh Leel.
Leel said: “For the past long time, the union has submitted demand letters to the authorities concerned, regarding the promotions of workshop attendants; doing away with errors in grades and one-day medical leave.”
“Despite this, the union has not been provided time for talks,” he added.
He demanded that workshop attendants should be given pay scales equivalent to senior lab assistants (SLA), failing which the union will initiate an agitation in the coming days.
Workers from across the state in huge number participated in the convention. General secretary, Jagtar Singh, said: “The government has been rendering step-motherly treatment to workshop attendants.”
Addressing the gathering, Sandeep Puri said:“The seniority of the teachers was disregarded during the promotions of vocational teachers, the promotions were done in a partial manner.”
