Three missing Kapurthala kids reunite with families

The Kapurthala police have traced three children, who had gone missing from Baba Deep Singh Nagar on August 2, to New Delhi and reunited them with their families.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora said the complainant, Sanjay Mahto, originally a resident of Bihar and presently living in Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Kapurthala, had reported that his son Chandan Kumar (9), along with two other children from the neighbourhood, had gone missing while playing outside.

Suspecting that the children had been wrongfully confined by unknown persons, Sanjay Mahto lodged a complaint, following which an FIR under Section 127(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at the City police station, Kapurthala.

The SSP said during the investigation, it was established that the children had neither been kidnapped nor wrongfully confined. Instead, they had left home on their own and travelled to New Delhi by train. The SSP added that acting promptly on the leads, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Gurmeet Singh was sent to New Delhi. After completing all necessary legal formalities, the team brought the children back and reunited them with their families.
