Tipsy cop hits vehicles, 2 booked

NAWANSHAHR: Two police personnel, who were allegedly in a drunken state, were booked after one of them hit two vehicles yesterday in Nawanshahr.

Two police personnel, who were allegedly in a drunken state, were booked after one of them hit two vehicles yesterday in Nawanshahr. The duo have been identified as head constables Labh Singh and Krishan Kumar, both posted at 82 Battalion Punjab Armed Police (PAP) in Chandigarh.

As per information, the constable, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle and hit two vehicles, including the pilot Gypsy of Jandiala MLA Guru Sukhwinder Singh Danny.

No person sustained serious injury in the incident. The police seized nine bottles of liquor from them.

The Gypsy was overturned and another vehicle, a Maruti Ertiga, was damaged.

The police have registered cases under Sections 279 of the IPC and 61-1-14 of the Punjab Excise Act at the Sadar Banga police station against the two policemen.

The complainant, driving the Ertiga car, informed the police that an overspeeding Alto car had hit his car first and then banged into Gypsy.

Rajiv Kumar, SHO, Sadar Banga, said the duo were arrested and later released on bail.

Liquor seized

No person sustained serious injury in the incident. The police seized nine bottles of liquor from the two police personnel.
