A massive fire broke out at the godown of a hand tools factory in the Basti Sheikh area late last night. Though no loss of life was reported, tools worth lakhs were gutted in the incident.

After getting information, two fire extinguishers were rushed to the spot. By the time fire tenders reached, flames spread inside the entire godown area. It took firemen around two hours to douse the flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
