Traffic diversion plan announced for Guru Ravidass Shobha Yatra in Phagwara

Administration advises public to avoid unnecessary travel on the Shobha Yatra route during peak hours

In view of the Shobha Yatra taking place on Saturday, January 31, on the occasion of Guru Ravidass Maharaj Prakash Purab, the Phagwara police and civil administration have announced a traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth conduct of the religious procession and avoid inconvenience to the public.

Phagwara SP Madhvi Sharma and Traffic In-charge Aman Kumar Daveshwar told media here on Friday that according to the diversion plan , vehicular movement on major roads in Phagwara and adjoining areas would be regulated during the Shobha Yatra.

As per the plan, vehicles travelling from Ludhiana towards Jalandhar and Amritsar will be diverted via Phillaur–Goraya–Nakodar–Jalandhar, while traffic from Ludhiana to Jalandhar will be routed through Goraya Rurka, Jandiala and Jalandhar Cantt.

For light vehicles coming from Ludhiana to Jalandhar, diversion will be provided through Mouli to Hadiabad.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Ludhiana towards Delhi will be diverted from Mehtan Bypass Chowk to Mehlive Pass.

Small vehicles moving from Jalandhar to Ludhiana will be diverted via Pas to Basra Palace to Khotra Road, while traffic heading from Nakodar towards Phagwara and Hoshiarpur will be allowed via Hadiabad–LPU–Chiheeru route.

SP Madhvi Sharma said adequate traffic signage, barricading, and deployment of personnel would be ensured at all major chowks and diversion points to guide commuters. Senior officers would also be on field supervision to maintain law and order.

The administration has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel on the Shobha Yatra route during peak hours and to use alternate routes as notified.

Emergency services will be allowed unhindered movement, and special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth passage for ambulances and essential services.
