In a continued crackdown against narcotics trafficking, Nakodar police arrested two individuals in separate operations and recovered heroin and intoxicant tablets from their possession. Cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigation is underway.
In the first case, registered under Sections 21(A), 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, a police party, conducted a naka operation near the bus stand Bilga. During checking, the team apprehended Inderjit Singh alias Indu, a resident of Bootay Dian Chhanna under Police Station Mehatpur, District Jalandhar.
Upon search, the police recovered 4 grams of heroin from the accused. He was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized as per procedure. A formal case was registered, and the accused was arrested on the spot. Police officials stated that further interrogation is being conducted to ascertain the source and supply chain of the narcotic substance.
In another operation under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act,a police team, was on patrol duty near Mohalla Guru Nanakpura, Nakodar, proceeding towards Malsian Road when they intercepted a suspect.
The accused, identified as Abhishek alias Abhi, a resident of Indra Colony, Nakodar, was found in possession of 28 loose intoxicant tablets. The tablets were recovered during checking, following which the accused was arrested in accordance with legal provisions. A case was registered, and investigation has been initiated to determine the intended distribution network and procurement source.
