Two held with heroin near Pagwara's old jail
A case registered against both accused under NDPS Act
The police have arrested two youth and recovered 7 grams of heroin from their possession near the old jail area in Phagwara.
Madhvi Sharma, Superintendent of Police (SP), Phagwara, said the arrested accused were identified as Ajay Kumar, alias Ajay, a resident of Jagat Ram Sood Colony, and Sonu Kumar, alias Kaku, a resident of Plahi Gate, Phagwara.
The SP said a police team was present near the old jail when officials noticed two youth approaching on foot from the Banga Chowk side. On spotting the police team, both accused attempted to retreat hurriedly, raising suspicion, the SP said. The police team acted swiftly and apprehended them, she said.
During questioning, the accused disclosed their identities, and their search led to the recovery of heroin from their possession, the SP said. A case was registered against both the accused under the NDPS Act, the SP said.
