Jalandhar, May 17

In order to ensure 100 per cent attendance of the polling staff for the rehearsal of the Shahkot byelection on coming Sunday, the Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar has told officials to ensure the complete videography of the rehearsal done on Sunday.

In an order to the officials, the DC said there would be zero tolerance in case any member of the poll staff was found absent. He told the officials to ensure that several videographers were deployed at the venue of the rehearsal to record the attendance of the poll duty. Sharma said the videographers would be entrusted the task of recording the entire event so that the presence of the poll staff was marked.

The DC said that along with videography, physical attendance of the polling staff would also be marked on the occasion by the teams specially deputed for this task. Sharma said he would himself visit the venue of the rehearsal to check the attendance of the polling staff. He cautioned the officials that stern action would be taken against the staff who would not report for duty.

He said any sort of indiscipline during the rehearsals would also be dealt with a heavy hand and appropriate action would be taken against the employees indulging in malpractices. He also said that any sort reluctance on part of the employees to join this “national service” could never be tolerated at any cost.
