Wanted criminals, POs among 100 arrested in Jalandhar police drive

In compliance with directions of the state government and DGP, the Jalandhar Rural Police today launched Operation Prahar 3.0 -- a special operation aimed at taking stringent action against gangsters, their associates, proclaimed offenders (POs), wanted criminals and other criminal elements operating in the district.

The operation was led by Naveen Singla, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jalandhar Range, who visited Jalandhar Rural to review the ongoing operation and supervise police teams.

Under Harvinder Singh Virk, SSP, Jalandhar Rural, the operation is being carried out in a coordinated manner across the district. The SSP also visited various locations, oversaw the raids, interacted with police teams, and reviewed the implementation of Operation Prahar 3.0.

During the operation, the police took legal and preventive action against nearly 300 individuals involved in various criminal activities. A total of 75 raids were conducted, 34 FIRs were registered, 36 accused were arrested in fresh cases, 71 wanted criminals and 11 proclaimed offenders were apprehended, 9 dossiers and 2 Intelligence Reports (IRs) were prepared, 12 history-sheeters were verified, 370 traffic challans were issued, and 51 vehicles were impounded.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of 347 gram of heroin, 182 intoxicating tablets, 2 motorcycles and over 15 litre of illicit liquor.

Additionally, legal action was taken by registering 31 cases under the NDPS Act leading to the arrest of 34 accused, while three cases under the Excise Act resulted in the arrest of two accused.

The SSP, Jalandhar Rural, said a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was conducted throughout the district. Police teams carried out extensive searches at isolated places, abandoned buildings, drug hotspots, and other suspected locations. The verification of suspicious persons and wanted criminals was also undertaken.

As part of the operation, night domination has also been intensified across the district, with special check-points established at strategic locations. Vehicles are being checked to curb criminal activities, ensure public safety and strengthen law and order.

The SSP further said 112 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) remain deployed across Jalandhar Rural round the clock to provide prompt emergency assistance. Citizens have been urged to dial 112 in case of any emergency.
