As per the environment experts, green crackers are sans barium salts or compounds of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead or strontium chromate. They produce minimal toxicity and minimal fumes in the environment. While a number of chemicals used to make traditional crackers are copper, cadmium, lead, magnesium, zinc and sodium. These chemicals can cause several health issues such as irritation, asphyxia, metal fume fever, burns and respiratory problems.
