Jalandhar, April 24
Harvinder Kaur Minty, who had levelled allegations of sexual molestation against MoS Vijay Sampla’s nephew Ashu Sampla, has been one of the most vocal critics of Sampla since the time when he was the state BJP president. Accusing Sampla of failing to act against Ashu and his aides who harassed her, Minty had approached the Chief MInister Capt Amarinder Singh after which an FIR was filed. She had written to the PMO and also approached the Supreme Court over the issue. She had been demanding action against former Jalandhar Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha, ADCP D Sudervizhi and other officials for a partial investigation in the case. She has been demanding that the culprits in the case be named in the FIR.
Reacting to the ticket denial to Sampla, she said: “This does not change my case much, may be the pressure on the police is less now. I will continue to fight the case no matter in which party he is in or whether he gets the ticket or not.”
The Jalandhar police had first formed a team in May 2017 to probe Minty’s allegations. Minty’s Twitter page, which has not been used this year, still bears a news clipping showing photographs of Ashu Sampla, Vijay Sampla and paper clippings of the news report on her allegations.
