Woman dies as tipper knocks down scooter

A speeding tipper hit a husband and wife duo on an Activa at village Chauhal on the Hoshiarpur-Chintpurni road. The woman died on the spot. According to information received, Vicky, a resident of Ludhiana, along with his wife Anju was going to worship Mata Chintpurni riding an Activa. When they reached village Chauhal, a speeding tipper overtook them. Anju died in the accident, while Vicky was injured and taken to the Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, where her condition is said to be stable.

On receiving information about the incident, Sadar police personnel reached the spot and took the body in its custody before sending it the hospital for post-mortem. According to the police, a search was on for the absconding tipper driver.
