Woman dies by suicide, parents blame husband
A woman has allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her home.
Identified as Mamta, a resident of Saida Gate here, she worked at the shop of a well-known jeweller in the city.
Her family claims that ongoing issues with her husband led her to take her own life.
According to the police, Mamta’s body has been taken to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem and further action will follow as statements have been recorded from her family. Her parents said they were treating the case as a domestic dispute and were investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
As per the deceased family, she had been married for seven years and was the mother of a young daughter.
Her parents, Kiran and Sanjay Singh, allege that their son-in-law had been unemployed and was addicted to drugs. They claimed that he forcefully took her salary, which left Mamta in a state of emotional distress. Her family believed this was the primary reason she decided to end her life.
The family said they received a call late at night from Mamta’s mother-in-law, informing them that something had happened. When they arrived at her home, they found her dead, hanging from the ceiling fan. The family had demanded an investigation into her death from all possible angles.
