The Mehatpur police have arrested a woman travel agent for duping a villager of Rs 5.60 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad. Investigating Officer (IO) Kashmir Singh said the accused was identified as Satish Kumari, a resident of Tajpur village under the Lambra police station.

Baldev Masih, a resident of Adraman village under the Mehatpur police station, had complained to the Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that he paid Rs 5.60 lakh to the accused woman for facilitating his son’s migration abroad, but he was not neither sent abroad nor his money was returned. The IO said a case was registered against the accused woman under relevant sections of the BNS in this connection.
