MAHILPUR: The Mahilpur police have registered an FIR against five members of a family — an NRI couple, their daughter, son and his wife for allegedly poisoning a woman to death.

The Mahilpur police have registered an FIR against five members of a family — an NRI couple, their daughter, son and his wife for allegedly poisoning a woman to death.

The victim, Poonam Ratu, was reportedly poisoned by her in-laws on Monday after forcing her to leave the house in Hukumatpur village under the Mahilpur police station.

She died at a private hospital on Tuesday. The Mahilpur police have registered a case against her NRI mother-in-law Joginder Kaur and father-in-law Gurdev Ram, sister-in-law Amarjit Kaur, brother-in-law Harpal and his wife Amarjit Kaur under Sections 302 and 328 of the IPC and sent the body to the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Four of the five suspects have been arrested.
