On receiving information, PCR in-charge Charanjit Singh and his team reached the spot and shifted the injured woman to the hospital. DSP (Sub-Division) Sheetal Singh, who also arrived at the site, confirmed that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to her thigh and that her condition was stable.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had been living separately from her husband for several years and had an ongoing dispute with a man named Suraj Thapar. In her statement to the police, Manpreet alleged that it was Suraj Thapar, a resident of Daburji village, who fired at her.
