Won’t deduct marks for similar mistakes: CBSE

While every Class X and Class XII board student is prepairng hard in revising the syllabus and practicing mock tests and sample papers, a major relief has arrived on the part of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Recently, after making every possible step to lower the burden of students the CBSE Chief had also communicated to the students in their fun tech slangs that, “Face your books and insta’ your studies and let the hashtag studentunstoppable’ trend”.

The board has mentioned that it would not deduct marks for a similar mistake in the same exam more than once. Students and teachers have also lauded the move by CBSE.

After making every possible step to lower the burden of students the CBSE chief had communicated the students saying

Concerning the unnecessarily deduction of marks, the board has made it clear that the direction would shrink the pressure on the students. Class XII board exams have already commenced and Class X exams will begin from February 21.

Satwinder Pannu, an English teacher, teaching senior secondary students at MGN Public school, said, the move justifies the CBSE’s idea of promoting innovation and creativity of students.

Many a times, students commit same mistakes again and again. However, instead of penalising the student for the same mistake, the examiner should understand that, if the student has made his point clear then the mistakes committed while writing the answer should be avoided by the examiner.

Besides, language subjects, students make mistakes in other subjects.

Naman Singh, a Class X student said, sometimes we do write our answers grammatically or tactfully correct but, in hurry similar mistakes were done by us, so we shouldn’t penalised for it.

The CBSE has also made it mandatory for evaluators that, if they deduct the marks than they also have to list a reason for deducting the marks, which is again appreciated by the students.
