Work on Ambedkar Chowk-Kapurthala road resumes after long delay
Was halted due to surface water project
A long wait for the resumption of the construction work of the busy road heading from Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk (Nakodar Chowk) to Kapurthala Chowk is finally over. The work on the broken road, which remained dug up for long due to surface water project work, finally resumed on Saturday.
The muddy, potholed road had been causing a lot of inconvenience to local residents, shopkeepers, traders and thousands of commuters who pass through the route daily. The poor condition of the road had also led to traffic congestion and serious difficulties in commuting. The construction work of this road was originally expected to be completed by Diwali last year, but several technical issues that emerged during the execution of the surface water project resulted in delays.
AAP Jalandhar Central halqa in-charge Nitin Kohli had been holding regular meetings with departments concerned for consistent follow-ups. The stalled project has now been brought back on track with official resumption of the construction work. As the weather has become conducive, hot mix plants are set to start.
Praising Nitin Kohli for his persistent efforts, local residents and members of the trading community said the project could only resume due to his continuous intervention and commitment to resolving public issues. They expressed hope that once completed, the road would significantly improve traffic movement and boost commercial activities in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Kohli said whenever development works face obstacles, it becomes responsibility of the public representatives to ensure that such issues were resolved promptly. He further stated that strengthening basic infrastructure such as roads, drinking water facilities, sanitation and traffic management was essential for the overall development of Jalandhar.
