The District Kapurthala Wrestling Association organised a felicitation function at the Raipur Dabba Olympic Wrestling Academy, Parm Nagar, where newly appointed chairman Paramjit Singh Pamma of Jalandhar, was honoured for his appointment.
The event was held under the leadership of district president Rimpal Kumar and general secretary Reet Preet Pal Singh, with academy organiser and former national chief wrestling coach PR Sondhi attending as a special guest.
During the function, Punjab president Raman Bakshi honoured Paramjit Singh Pamma with a memento, siropa and loi as a mark of respect. International wrestler Buddh Singh Dhaleta, who accompanied him, was also felicitated on the occasion. The association also encouraged rising talent as wrestler Karnveer Singh, who secured a silver medal in the 92 kg category at the Under-20 National Wrestling Championship held in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, was honoured with a garland, loi and a traditional gift of desi ghee in recognition of his achievement.
Expressing gratitude for his appointment, Paramjit Singh Pamma thanked Punjab president Raman Bakshi and other members, assuring that he would serve with dedication and work towards promoting budding wrestlers at the district level. District president Rimpal Kumar and chairman Reet Preet Pal Singh extended full support and stated that wrestlers winning medals at district, state, national and international levels would continue to be honoured to boost their morale.
In his concluding remarks, coach PR Sondhi briefed the guests about the training being imparted at the academy and thanked them for their presence. Several association members, including vice-president Gaurav Sharma (Gaurav Sweets) Mehatli, secretary Harmesh Pathak, Sunish Kumar, treasurer Salwinder Singh Jassi, Avan Kumar, joint secretaries Ravinder Nath, Sarabjit Singh Sabba, Justin Sidhu, Jassa Pehalwan, Jatin Shukla and Pradeep Basra, along with academy wrestlers, were present on the occasion.
