Bholath police have arrested a youth accused of allegedly luring and taking away a minor girl on the pretext of marriage. The action was taken following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, leading to the safe recovery of the minor and her restoration to her legal guardians.
Providing details, Station House Officer (SHO) Bholath, Ranjit Singh, said the complainant, Sukhjinder Singh, a resident of Bholath, stated in his complaint that he is the father of three children and has been living separately from his wife for the past several years. He alleged that on September 4, his younger daughter left home saying she was going to meet a friend but did not return.
Despite repeated attempts, her mobile phone remained switched off and extensive searches among relatives and acquaintances yielded no information about her whereabouts. The complainant further stated that his daughter is a minor and suspected that an unknown youth had allegedly enticed her away with the intention of marriage. Acting promptly on the statement, Bhullath Police registered a case against an unidentified person and initiated an investigation.
During the course of the inquiry, the police traced and apprehended Rahul Kumar, son of Vikram Singh, a resident of Behram village falling under Police Station Bhogpur, who was found in the company of the minor girl. The accused was subsequently named in the case and arrested as per legal procedure.
The SHO said the minor girl has been safely handed over to her lawful guardians, while legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated in accordance with the law. He added that the police are committed to protecting minors and taking strict action in cases involving their safety and rights.
