After performing puja, the holy mace ‘Chhari-Mubarak’ was kept for darshan at Shri Amareshwar Temple on Monday.
The custodian of the mace, Mahant Deependra Giri, said the ‘Chhari-sthapana’ ceremony was performed with a group of sadhus chanting Vedic hymns at Shri Amareshwar Temple on Monday morning.
The Mahant said it took more than two hours to complete the rituals. He said the holy mace — one depicting Lord Shiva and another Goddess Parvati — will be kept in the temple at Akhara Building for darshan till it is taken for the Amarnath pilgrimage on August 20.
He said the traditional ‘Chhari-pujan’ would be performed on Wednesday on the occasion of Nag Panchami (Shravan Shukla Paksha Panchami) at Dashnami Akhara.
