The Army on Friday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by killing three unidentified militants along the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The Army said the operation in Boniyar sector is still under way for the second consecutive day.

“Three militants have been killed and four AK rifles and a same number of haversacks have been recovered,” an Army official said, adding that the operation is in progress. The officer said there is a possibility that one or two militants might still be hiding in the dense forest.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants could not be established immediately.

The operation was launched by the Army on Thursday morning when they noticed a suspected movement close to the LoC near Tourna, Boniyar sector, nearly 100 km from Srinagar. There was an intermittent exchange of fire between a group of militants and the Army the entire day.
