8 law officers appointed in High Court

SRINAGAR: The state law department has appointed eight new law officers in the Srinagar wing of the J&K High Court to represent the government in different cases.

The state law department has appointed eight new law officers in the Srinagar wing of the J&K High Court to represent the government in different cases.

According to the orders issued by the department of law, justice & parliamentary affairs, senior lawyer Javed Iqbal Wani has been appointed as the new Senior Additional Advocate General while Showkat Hussain Naqshbandi has been appointed as Additional Advocate General (AAG) following the termination order of Asif Ahmad Bhat as AAG issued on Friday.

Iqbal, who is an advocate in the High Court, has conducted several high-profile cases, including the Pathribal fake encounter case on the behalf of Army, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association scam case and the defection case on the behalf of seven BJP MLAs in the year 2009-2010.

As per the orders, Farah Bashir and Feroz Ahmad Sheikh have been been appointed as the Deputy Advocates General in the Srinagar wing while Muzaffar Kirmani, Mohammad Rais-ud-Din Ganai, Bikram Deep Singh and Sajad Ashraf have been appointed as government advocates.
