The Peoples Democratic Party founder and patron changed the dynamics of the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir by firmly establishing his party as a force to reckon with in the region. He dislodged the National Conference, oldest party in the state, twice over and went on to create history for the state and the country by entering into an alliance with the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party.
