Baramulla man held for ‘raping’ daughter

SRINAGAR: The strife-torn Kashmir valley is seething after a man (50) allegedly raped and impregnated his daughter (21) in north Kashmir Baramulla district.

The strife-torn Kashmir valley is seething after a man (50) allegedly raped and impregnated his daughter (21) in north Kashmir Baramulla district.

The J&K Police on Monday arrested the man, a daily wager on a farm in Gulmarg. A Gulmarg resident lodged a complaint at the Kunzer police station on Sunday, saying his sister has been raped by his father in the past few months. “As per my sister, my father has been raping her constantly for the past few months,” the complaint lodged by the victim’s brother read. The police have registered a case under Section 376 (rape) of the Ranbir Penal Code and started investigation.

“During the course of investigation, the statements of the victim and other witnesses under relevant provisions of law were recorded. The medical examination of the victim has prima facia confirmed rape. The accused father was arrested today,” a police officer said. The girl as per the medical examination is 12 weeks pregnant, the police officer said. — TNS
