After the lifting of advisory for tourists, the Tourism Department will soon launch a campaign to promote the famed houseboats as part of its efforts to bring back the visitors. It will also set up web portals for the houseboats.

“Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam stressed promoting the tourism sector at a global level, providing marketing platforms for the houseboats and paying guesthouses on separate and dedicated web portals. He also stressed outsourcing the department’s assets to private companies to make them commercially viable”, said an official of the department. — TNS
