Days after the government announced the schedule for board exams for Classes X and XII, ofsficials at the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) said a decision regarding reduction of syllabus would be taken by the Governor’s administration.
An official said they had issued the datasheet and talked to the department of education regarding the syllabus. However, they said the decision, if any, regarding syllabus reduction for the two classes would be taken by the administration. “We are ready on our side for the exams but we have no say in syllabus relaxation. The decision will be taken by the government,” the official said.
He said during a recent meeting of top officials, there was a concern that students had not completed 100 per cent syllabus in their respective educational institutions.
“The Adviser to the Governor said he will decide over it in the coming days,” the official said, adding that they had prepared the papers and the notice for the exam centres would be issued to students in the coming days.
After the government notified the date sheet of Classes X and XII, whose exams are set to start from October 29 and 30, many students had said they had not completed their syllabus yet and would not be able to appear for the exams in such a situation.
According to officials, the students had attended only 80 days of their regular classes and completed nearly 50 per cent of their syllabus.
