Classes start at JU today

Classwork in University of Jammu (JU) will resume from August 14. Further, as already notified, admissions as per the revised admission schedule will also commence from August 16, followed by display of merit list in nodal departments. The UG and PG examinations to be held on August 14 already stand postponed as per the notification issued earlier. The examination schedules of various examinations will be notified separately. 

Workshop begins at SMVDU

A week-long Indo-US workshop on ‘Next Generation Logistics, Logistic Models and Supply Chains’ got underway at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). This workshop is approved and partially sponsored by Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and is being organised jointly by Department of Industrial Engineer, University of Pittsburgh, and Institution for Innovation, Industrial Engineering and Entrepreneurship (IIIEE), India, with support from the Institute of Industrial and System Engineers at SMVDU. Vice Chancellor Professor D Mukhopadhyay inaugurated the workshop.

KCPS students excel

Students of KC Public School (KCPS), Jammu, clinched the best delegation trophy, besides winning individual honours in distinct categories, at the recently held Phoenix Youth Parliament, organised by Banyan International School. A total of 320 delegates from various schools of Jammu, including 41 from KC Public School, participated in the event. Samarth Gupta, Bhavyta Anand and Sulaksh Mehta were honoured with best delegate, high commendations and verbal mention, respectively. Hanumat Sharma and Ojasvi Koul also excelled at the event.

Activities mark raksha bandhan

JK Public School (JKPS) organised various literary activities for students of classes VI and VII. The programme is a regular feature of the school and is compulsory for each child as it provides them an opportunity to learn the essential life skills. Students of Class VI participated in making ‘shagun envelopes’. The students also shared their feelings by writing quotes. Students of Class VII mastered their spoken skills by participating in declamation contest on the topic ‘Famous Siblings from History/Cartoons /Movie’. Both the activities highlighted the theme of Raksha Bandhan. The students of Class VIII participated in a symposium on freedom fighters to mark Independence Day.

Ragujeet brings laurels for KV

Ragujeet Singh, a Class XII student of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No 1, Udhampur, has brought laurels to the schools by participating in group song at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. The group song was part of an event held in connection with the 77th anniversary of ‘Quit India Movement’. The vidyalaya management congratulated Ragujeet Singh.

SMVDU students attend camp

Ayushi and Devika Sharma, research students of the School of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, attended a boot-camp on 'Theoretical and Experimental Phonology'. The camp was organised by Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) in Mysore recently, wherein prominent linguists, such as Dr Hemanga Dutta, Prof Somdevkar, Prof Pramod Pandey, Prof Uma Rao, Prof P Perumal Samy and others, delivered lectures.
