A two-day career counselling programme was conducted for students of KC Public School by expert counsellor Gurpreet Singh Dhaul. On the first day, the session focused on the range of career opportunities in the fields of humanities and engineering. The resource person enlightened the students about traditional and emerging courses in both fields. On the second day, the counsellor discussed in detail what was in and what was out in the field of commerce from career options point of view. In the last session, he apprised the students of the wide range of careers in the field of medicine and healthcare.

Springdales School receives award

Springdales School, Barnai, has been awarded with the International School Award (ISA) for three years from 2019-22, an accreditation scheme run by British Council for the prospective schools.The British Council is a British government organisation specialising in international cultural and educational opportunities. It works in over 100 countries: promoting a wider knowledge of the United Kingdom and the English language; encouraging cultural, scientific, technological and educational co-operation. The school was facilitated through Shashi Kiran Bedi, Principal and Khushboo Sondhi, ISA co-ordinator, who represented the school at the award ceremony at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, New Delhi on December 6, 2019.

Blood donation camp

The Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education and Research on Monda organised a blood donation camp on the birth anniversary of Late Dr Roop Lal Sharma, founder-chairman of the Trust. The camp was organised at the Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD), Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra, which was inaugurated by Suman Sharma, chairperson and managing director. As many as 90 donors donated blood at the camp.

Essay writing competition

The Army organised an essay writing competition on the theme of “Save Water and Save Earth” at Elite Public School, Saaj, in Rajouri district. A large number of students participated in the competition. The aim of conducting the competition was to educate the students and youth about the importance of water and its significance in furthering greener and cleaner environment on planet. The students expressed their views and thoughts about the topic through their writing. Later, winners and runners-up were also awarded.

BOSE grants affiliation to institutes

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has affiliated 18 Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) Institutes for the session 2019-21, provisionally. The affiliation was granted by BOSE after no objection certificate (NOC) was issued by the School Education Department to these 18 institutes..

JU invites applications for staff

The University of Jammu (JU) has invited applications from permanent Class-IV employees on the main campus, who are matriculate and have put in three years continuous satisfactory service and intend to appear in the computer type test for the promotion to the rank of Junior Assistant against 33 per cent reserved quota for them. The employees are directed to reach the office along with the attested copy of matriculation certificate.
