Dailies flooded with ads of pvt coaching centres

SRINAGAR: With no internet in the Valley for the past more than 120 days, the local dailies are flooded with private coaching centres’ advertisements inviting students for tuitions, as students missed classes since schools were shut for the last four months.

Srinagar, December 8

With no internet in the Valley for the past more than 120 days, the local dailies are flooded with private coaching centres’ advertisements inviting students for tuitions, as students missed classes since schools were shut for the last four months.

There are scores of advertisements in local newspapers every day inviting students to take admissions and prepare for the upcoming competitive exams. Students said this is the only way they come to know about the coaching centres. “Newspapers are the only source of information these days, as we get to know about different coaching centres that have resumed operation after the long shutdown and tension in Kashmir,” said Rabia Altaf, a Class XII student from Kulgam, who lives as a paying guest in Parraypora to study for engineering entrance exam.

With most of the students having no access to the internet, posters and newspaper advertisements are the only source of information in the Valley. Students who have missed classes in the last four months have now enrolled in private tuition centres to compensate the losses. — TNS
