Jammu, November 15
Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday said that Jammu Doordarshan, which has been facing the threat of closure, would be restored to its glory.
The Governor’s remarks have come a day after The Tribune prominently highlighted that DD-Jammu was strapped for funds and had discontinued several programmes.
“Besides uplifting the stature of Jammu Doordarshan, the restoration and inclusion of more programmes will cater to the needs of artistes of all genres,” the Governor said.
Sources said the government was seriously considering that all programmes which had been discontinued should be brought back on air.
The government also wants to increase the duration of the telecast so the kendra regains its diminishing popularity and visibility.
