Doda municipal official held for ‘illegal assets’

The State Vigilance Organisation on Tuesday booked an Executive Officer (EO) of the Doda Municipal Committee for accumulating huge moveable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known legal sources of income. 

The officer was identified as Tariq Mehmood Balwan, a resident of Doda city. According to a vigilance spokesperson, a case was registered against the officer following a complaint. “The vigilance took cognisance of the matter on the basis of an inquiry which revealed that the accused had raised assets in the shape of moveable and immoveable properties in Doda and Jammu,” the spokesperson said. He said the accused also possessed a Duster car and had a huge bank balance. “The expenditure incurred by him in acquiring these assets is more than the legitimate income earned by him from all sources ,” he said. — TNS
