Eye camp for rural people

An eye camp for rural people was organised by KC Public School in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (Jammu Region). Students of the school escorted patients from their homes in villages by the school transport and assisted the Red Cross team in carrying out eye examination besides providing hospitality to the patients in the form of refreshment.

An eye camp for rural people was organised by KC Public School in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (Jammu Region). Students of the school escorted patients from their homes in villages by the school transport and assisted the Red Cross team in carrying out eye examination besides providing hospitality to the patients in the form of refreshment.The team of doctors, technicians and volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society comprised of Dinesh Gupta, secretary, Indian Red Cross Society of Jammu, Dr Suneeta Sharma, eye surgeon, Dr Shelley Mahajan, medical officer, Dr Ritu Chib, dental surgeon, ophthalmological assistant Kuldeep Bhat and senior pharmacist Ajit Kumar.

Charu qualifies for PhD in maths

Charu Sharma, daughter of Ranjana and Jugal Kumar, a resident of Chowk Chabutra, Reasi, has qualified for the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) in mathematics by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. She worked on the topic, "Some difference sequence spaces and weighted composition operators", under the supervision of Dr Kuldip Raj, assistant professor, school of mathematics, SMVDU. She has published more than 13 research papers in journals of international repute.

Youth festival concludes

The 5-day youth festival “Sangam 2019-20” was concluded on Tuesday. The theme of the event was ‘Let’s Build Our Nation’ which was organised by Bhadarwah Campus in collaboration with Rastryia Rifles based at Bhadarwah to promote peace and prosperity in the Chenab Valley.The closing ceremony of the mega event was held on the premises of Bhadarwah Campus, wherein Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean reaserch sciences, was the chief guest while Prof Rajni Kant Sinha, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, was the guest of honour. The event had participation of 1,286 students and teachers from 32 colleges and all off-site campuses of the University of Jammu .

Supplementary exam for diploma 

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous institution under Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, will conduct the last supplementary examination in diploma in elementary education (DElEd)- online mode in January 2020. As per notification issued by B Venkateshwaran, Director (Evaluation), the online registration and payment of examination fee forthe DElEd-online mode will begin on October 16 and close on October 31, 2019. The registration fee is Rs 250 per subject. Naipal Singh, regional director, said it was the last supplementary examination for the DElEd-online mode candidates. He asked all study centre coordinators to inform the teacher trainees to submit the examination fee by logging on to NIOS/D.El.Ed website.  

Field trip for college students

The Department of Environmental Sciences, Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, on Tuesday organised an industrial field trip to Nice Paper Mills, Hatli Morh, for  students of the third and fifth semester. The principal of the college, Prof Assa Ram, flagged off the trip, the objective of which was to acquaint students with the functioning of the paper recycling unit. The students were also made aware of the waste paper in the unit besides giving them information about the pollution control devices.

Expedition-cum-nature study

Nagender Singh Jamwal, CEO, Mansar Srinsar Development Authority (MSDA), flagged off trekking expedition-cum-nature study to Mohar garh-Mansar in Jammu region. As many as 50 students from Bhargav Public School Gadigarh and its staff participated in this expedition organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAIP), Srinagar Unit -1. While addressing the participants, Jamwal said trekking was the best way to study nature. "The MSDA is doing its best to provide opportunity to the nature lovers to explore nature at its best in Jammu region of Jammu-Kashmir", Nagender Singh said. Dr Taran Singh, YHAI state secretary was also present.
