Formation day celebrated

JAMMU: Chenab Valley Power Projects []P] Limited (CVPP) celebrated its eighth formation day on Wednesday. The organisation was incorporated on this day in 2011 for the execution of three hydroelectric projects, namely Pakal Dul (1,000 MW), Kiru (624 MW) and Kwar (540 MW), on the Chenab basin in Kishtwar district.

The organisation was incorporated on this day in 2011 for the execution of three hydroelectric projects, namely Pakal Dul (1,000 MW), Kiru (624 MW) and Kwar (540 MW), on the Chenab basin in Kishtwar district. On the occasion, MY Khan, CVPP chairman, and MS Babu, CVPP managing director, emphasised the need for making coordinated efforts to take up the construction of the projects. Similar functions were held at Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kwar plants, followed by dinner-cum-Iftar party. TNS

Two killed, 7 hurt in road accident

Doda: Two people were killed and seven others seriously injured in an accident on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road on Wednesday. The incident occurred at around 12.30 pm on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road, 70 km from the district headquarters, when a van on its way towards Padri, a famous tourist destination, skidded off the track and rolled down into a deep gorge. Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Shabir Choudhary said, "So far, we have received information about the death of two people and injuries to several others. Immediately after the incident, locals came into action and followed the police teams and shifted the injured to a local hospital at Bhaderwah." Block Medical Officer, Bhaderwah hospital, Dr Yudvir Singh said, "We have received nine injured people, including four women and two minors." "Four people are seriously injured and we are shifting them to GMCH in Jammu," he added. OC

Importance of quality education discussed

Jammu: A two-day-long national seminar on the topic "Management of quality education" concluded at the Ramisht College of Education, Basohli, Kathua district, on Wednesday.  The seminar was sponsored by the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, University of Jammu, the objective of which was to spread awareness about the importance of quality education to the people of the country.
