The Ice Hockey Tournament-2018 ended today with Goshan-A team, Drass, beating Himalayan-B team, Drass, by two goals.
The concluding ceremony was held at Ice Hockey Rink, Goshan, in Drass, today. It was organised by the Kargil police.
In the final match today, Goshan-A defeated Himalayan-B, Drass, by two goals and emerged as the winner.
Kargil Deputy Commissioner Gulzar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of the district police for the promotion of the sport at the world’s second coldest inhabited place Drass.
The winning team was given a cash prize of Rs 15,000 whereas the runner-up team was given a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Both teams were also given mementoes and certificates. Shakeel Ahmed and Zia Mir of Goshan-A, Drass, were declared as the ‘Man of the Series’ and ‘Man of the Match,’ respectively.
Special awards were also presented to Karl Watters, international ice hockey coach from Canada, Wasim Hassan, karate coach, and Amin Polo for the promotion of ice hockey. — TNS
