Governor for making J&K shining state of country

Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday said the best way to win over PoK was not through confrontation but by way of progress and development in Jammu and Kashmir so that people on the other side wished to join this part of the state.

Speaking at a function at the Raj Bhawan here this afternoon, the Governor said many Union Ministers during the past couple of weeks were talking about occupying PoK militarily. He said such ministers under normal circumstances were not able to speak on international matters.

“I am of the opinion that instead of any hostile approach, we will take it on the basis of progress and development”, the Governor said. He added that the government at the Centre was taking several measures for safeguarding future of the youth, development of trade, progress in different spheres of life and power generation in the state. “Let the power in J&K shine so brightly that people from the other side wish to join us”, Malik said. He added this was his map of the progress and development of J&K. The Centre on August 5 abrogated Article 370 and divided the State into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, which would be coming into effect from October 31. Referring to the Roshni Act, which has already been scrapped, the Governor said he had asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau to investigate the embezzlement of over Rs 25,000 crore. He noted that no effort would be spared in making J&K and Ladakh a shining example of development in the country. He observed that corruption had no place in J&K and Ladakh of our dreams.

Earlier, the Governor and RK Singh, Union Minister of State, Power, New and Renewable Energy and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship inaugurated a total of 15 and laid foundation of 20 power projects.
