Highlighting the link between seasonal shifts and escalation in cardiac problems, Dr Sushil Sharma today conducted a daylong camp with residents of Dai Chack village of the Marh area.

Hundreds of patients were examined and were distributed free medicines during the camp.

Dr Sharma said, “Cold weather can increase blood pressure and raise cholesterol levels, both augments conditions for heart attack. It can also lead blood to form lifwe-threatening clots. Cold temperature causes arteries to tighten, restricting blood flow and reducing the oxygen supply to the heart, all of which can set the stage for cardiac problems.”

“In cold weather, more oxygen is demand by the heart as it works harder to maintain body heat. Heart attack and complication occur more frequently in morning hours,” he added.

He said that one should always wear layers of clothing so that it traps the body heat inside and helps in staying warm and one should not forget to cover one’s head, hands and feet. It becomes important when one is moving outdoors. Try some light physical activity when the temperature is optimum, he said.

The residents of the area Raman Chalotra, Rajinder Verma, Jatinder Singh and Parveen Singh appreciated the efforts of Dr Sushil and his team for conducting a cardiac awareness camp in their area.

Others who were present included, Dr Nasir Ali Choudhary (cardiologist) and Dr Dhaneshwar Kapoor .Paramedics and volunteers who were part of the team included Raghav Rajput, Gourav Heera ,Rohit Khajuria ,Aman Gupta ,Akshay Kumar, Anmol Singh, Sandeep Kohli, Suresh Baigra, Amandeep Singh and Rajkumar.
