Implement Budget promises: Chamber

SRINAGAR: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) J&K Chapter, has sought implementation of the announcements made during the last Budget and sops for development of tourism, handicraft and other sectors.

Srinagar, December 10

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) J&K Chapter, has sought implementation of the announcements made during the last Budget and sops for development of tourism, handicraft and other sectors.

A memorandum submitted by PHDCCI (J&K) chairman Mushtaq Chaya to the government during pre-Budget deliberations on Sunday pointed to the non-implementation of previous Budget’s announcement for industrial power tariff for hotels. Besides, the PHDCCI said the allocation for tourism promotional activities should be more than the other states, such as Kerala, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

“A provision should be made for common sewage treatment plants for hotels and we request for finalisation of the state tourism policy with financial allocation. We further suggest that the hoteliers should be assisted to meet their immediate expenses,” the memorandum said.

“For the revival of the carpet industry, the draft document prepared by stakeholders’ expert group needs to be implemented by the state government,” it added. — TNS
