International skater and former skipper of the Indian roller skating team, Rajesh Anand, of J&K, has been appointed as a selector by the Roller Skating Federation of India to choose the national team for the prestigious Asian Roller Skating Championship slated to be held in South Korea from September 4 to 14.
An inspector-rank officer in the J&K Police, Rajesh Anand has already reached the selection trials venue in Patiala to select the Indian team for the coveted championship. The final selection of the team will be done tomorrow after the screening. The team will be selected in three categories, namely inline skating, roller skating and quad.
A recipient of the State Award, Rajesh Anand captained the national roller skating team in many international championships held across the globe. It was under his captainship that the Indian team bagged the bronze medal four times in Asian championships held at South Korea (1997, 2005), China (2010) and Taiwan (2010).
