Life returned to normal in most parts of the Kashmir valley on Sunday.

The authorities had to, however, impose restrictions again in the Nowhatta area of old city on Sunday after fresh protests erupted in the area over the killing of militant commander Zakir Rashid Bhat, alias Zakir Musa, recently.

Shops and other business establishments in most parts of the Valley reopened on Sunday and public transport operated normally.

An official said the normal life also resumed in all north and central Kashmir districts. The shutdown, however, continued in south Kashmir districts for the third consecutive day, but there was no report of violence from any area on Sunday.

The low-speed Internet service was also restored in many parts in Kashmir.

The normal life was hit in Kashmir for two consecutive days due to curfew, restrictions and shutdowns following the killing of militant commander Zakir Musa in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Tral sub-district on Thursday. The killing of Musa, the chief of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an affiliate of the Al-Qaeda, triggered instant protests.

To maintain peace, the authorities   imposed curfew and restrictions on Friday and Saturday.
