Man injured in grenade attack succumbs

SRINAGAR: A civilian who was injured in a grenade blast in the city earlier this week died in a Srinagar hospital, taking the death toll to two in the attack.

A civilian who was injured in a grenade blast in the city earlier this week died in a Srinagar hospital, taking the death toll to two in the attack.

A toy seller, Rinku Singh, a resident of Saharanpur, was killed and 40 persons were injured in a grenade attack at the busy Hari Singh High Street on November 4 when it was packed with roadside vendors and shoppers.

“One of the injured, identified as Fayaz Ahmed, died in the hospital this morning,” a health official said.

Police officials are working on various leads to zero in on militants involved in the attack.

In the past three weeks, at least three grenade attacks took place in Srinagar. Out of them two grenades were lobbed at the Hari Singh High Street during the daytime.
