Pak troops violate ceasefire in Poonch hours after missile test-fire

JAMMU: The Pakistan army violated ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector of Poonch today, hours after it test-fired surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.

Jammu, August 29

The Pakistan army violated ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in the Mendhar sector of Poonch today, hours after it test-fired surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.

However, the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing by the Pakistan army.

An Army spokesperson said at about 11.30 am, Pakistan did the ceasefire violation by firing small arms and mortars in Mendhar which the Indian Army retaliated strongly.

Since India’s decision to scrap Article 370 and bifurcate J&K into two union territories, Pakistani troops have violated ceasefire nearly 15 times along the LoC in Rajouri, Poonch and north Kashmir.

On Wednesday, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire in the Rajouri sector and on Tuesday in the Poonch sector. So far, four Indian soldiers have lost their lives, while four others have been injured in these violations. — OC
