Plantation drive held

Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma launched an awareness programme on solid waste management, plastic waste management and a plantation drive in collaboration with Parveen Akhter, Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.

Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma launched an awareness programme on solid waste management, plastic waste management and a plantation drive in collaboration with Parveen Akhter, Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar. An awareness programme was organised under the supervision of Dr Zaffar Iqbal, MVO/nodal officer, solid waste management, JMC. Jorawar Singh started his lecture with the solid waste management and "say no to single use plastic".

Workshop on basic life support

The Department of Students Welfare and the Health Centre, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital organised a one-day workshop on basic life support. Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu, was the chief guest. He emphasised the need of being aware about health issues. Interactive training session was conducted by Dr Nikhil Mahajan (DM Cardiology) and Dr Sumit Sharma, MD, Emergency Medicine, SMVDNSH.   

Tributes paid to Dr Radhakrishnan  

The Army celebrated Teacher's Day to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Principals, teachers and students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mendhar, Relan, Marhot Government High School, Dara Dullian, Doongi, Jhullas, Relan, Thanamandi, Sangiot, Naili, Dera Ki Gali, Pargal, Kotli and Youth Centre, Palma, in Poonch and Rajouri districts paid rich tribute to the great leader.    

Teacher’s Day celebrated  

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jammu University unit, celebrated Teacher's Day in the presence of ABVP Jammu University president Shubam Amar. The unit interacted with teachers and got their blessings. The teachers said the ABVP was an organisation on the campus which developed innovative programmes among students and all students should participate in such activities.  

‘Teachers play valuable role’ 

ASN Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat, celebrated Teacher's Day on the school premises. Ritesh Kapoor, administrator of the school, was the chief guest on the occasion. He said Teacher's Day was celebrated as a tribute to the valuable contribution made by teachers to society by imparting knowledge and shaping the career of students. Moreover, it is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan, who was the strong believer of education and was one of the well-known diplomats, scholar and former President of India.

Army builds toilet for school  

Based on the aspirations and request of the school staff of Government Primary School, Gei, the Army constructed a toilet at the school and provisioned furniture for students. An Army officer while addressing the students and staff of the school during handing over ceremony emphasised on the importance of education and to follow the path based on good virtues and social values.
